Imaginary Territories
Project realized with
Chloé Grienenberger
Natural disasters are on the increase and the covid-19 crisis is pushing us to reinvent the way we see and understand the things around us. Some say that "nature takes back its rights" and opinion shared or not, one thing is certain: life as we knew it will not resume. Where the future is uncertain, imaginaries are born, freed from the borders that usually constrain them. What if the future was elsewhere? This fictional project pushes the limits of reality and proposes to imagine new spaces, virgin and colorful, which will perhaps compose the territories of a new civilization. The book discusses the link between fiction and reality, drawing on the history of the sci-fi genre as well as some interviews with authors from sf. Over the pages, it will be a question of understanding the importance of these fictitious narratives and their cathartic functions. Immersed in eight alternative realities, this book highlights the plurality of imaginaries where social consensus is not always possible.
